Connecticut woman dies in hit-and-um

The Newington Police Department continues to search for the driver of a maroon or dark red 1997 Ford F-150 pickup truck that was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident that occured on the night of February 27. The accident, which happened around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Robbins and Williard avenues, was reportedly responsible for the death of a 51-year-old woman from New Britian.

According to police, the woman, who was the driver of one of the vehicles that was involved in the accident received serious injuries in the crash. She initially was transported to a nearby hospital in the area but later died.

Although the driver reportedly fled the scene of the accident on foot after the crash, police are continuing to search for him. The man is described as having on a baseball cap that witnesses state he was wearing backwards. No other description of the man has been given.

Police state that they believe the same truck was allegedly involved in another accident that occurred earlier the same day in the parking lot of a restaurant located near the Berlin Turnpike. Witnesses reported seeing a truck matching a description of the Ford F-150 fleeing from the parking lot of the Puerto Vallarta of after a collision there prior to the fatal collision that happened later that night.

Families who have lost loved ones or had a family member injured due to the negligence of a hit-and-run driver may have valuable legal rights and could find that they are eligible to receive compensation for their loss once the driver has been identified.
