Driver of Camaro arrested on vehicular assault charge and DUI

A 40-year-old South Windsor man is facing multiple charges after losing control of a 1982 Chevrolet Camaro that he was driving after crashing it into a tree. The charges against the man include making an improper turn, second degree assault with a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

According to state police, the man was traveling on a state road known as Crescent Circle when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle. The Camaro then went off the right shoulder of the road, traveling about 75 feet before hitting a large tree.

A 23-year-old female passenger, who reportedly was the actual owner of the car received an injury to her leg during the accident. She was subsequently transported by a LifeStar helicopter to Hartford Hospital where she was treated for injuries that were reported as non-life threatening. Investigators state that the driver of the vehicle declined to be treated for his injuries. The car received damage to the front end and passenger side of the vehicle and was later towed from the scene.

The relationship between the driver and the owner of the car is not known. According to state police, the cause of the accident is still under investigation. They have not released information at this time as to whether any additional charges may be pending.

Individuals who receive passenger injuries while riding in a vehicle may have valuable legal rights and could be entitled to compensation for their loss or injuries. It could be beneficial to learn more about these legal rights and how they could pertain to their case.
