A man is in critical condition after his motorcycle was involved in a hit and run accident that has left him in the hospital. The accident occurred on June 7 around 11:20 p.m. Police believe that the driver of a dark colored Mazda 3 was responsible for the crash.
According to authorities, the motorcyclist was reportedly traveling westbound on North Avenue when the driver of the Mazda 3 pulled out of a parking lot onto the street and in front of the motorcycle. The motorcycle and the car reportedly then met in the middle of the street, causing the man’s motorcycle to hit the car on the driver’s side of the vehicle. The motorcyclist subsequently lost control of his bike before hitting hit two vehicles that were parked on the opposite side of the road.
The man was transported by a LifeStar medical helicopter to Hartford Hospital where he was treated for serious head, leg, chest and neck injuries. The driver of the Mazda 3 reportedly did not remain at the scene. Police state that they believe they have found the car, an unregistered blue Mazda 3 that was discovered abandoned in a parking lot on Griswold Street. They remain on the lookout for the driver.
