24-year-old pedestrian killed in tragic car crash

Police in Milford, Connecticut, have arrested and accused a man of drunk driving in connection to a fatal car crash. The accident, which happened on a recent Sunday, claimed the life of a 24-year-old male pedestrian. The accused drunk driver was a 46-year-old man from New Haven.

The accident happened at approximately 2 a.m., on an early Sunday morning. Following the collision, the pedestrian was rushed the local hospital; however, doctors were unable to save him and he was pronounced dead at the medical facility.

Meanwhile, the allegedly inebriated driver appears to have escaped serious injury. He was arrested at the crash site and police charged him with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was later released after paying $500 bond. His next court date is scheduled to take place at the end of the month, on March 31.

Whenever a Connecticut resident’s life is taken in a fatal crash, it is important to establish whose fault the incident was. If police reports and/or independent investigation reveal that the accident was the result of another party’s negligence, then that at-fault party might be liable for financial damages stemming from the accident. In the case of a fatal accident, for example, family members may be able to pursue wrongful death damages against the driver responsible for the death of their loved one.

In a successfully navigated wrongful death case, damages might include money for lost family income, compensation for funeral and memorial costs, last family relationship, lost future inheritance, attorney fees, litigation costs, interest and other categories of damages.
