69-year-old woman dies in head-on Connecticut crash

A 69-year-old woman passed away in a head-on collision last Friday. The accident happened in Shelton, Connecticut, at around noontime on Route 110, which is also known as River Road. Police were called to the accident site at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Two Shelton residents, a 23-year-old woman and a 69-year-old woman, were involved in the crash. Tragically, the older woman did not survive and police say they found her dead at the crash site. The younger woman was transported to Bridgeport Hospital. Police say that she had serious but no life threatening injuries.

The Shelton Police Traffic Division Reconstruction Team continues to investigate the accident, and as of last reports they had not made any kind of enforcement action. Police are asking for people with information pertaining to the collision to contact them. As accident investigators tended to the crash site, the road was closed from Murphy's Lane to Long Hill Avenue. It didn't reopen until approximately 5 p.m.

Police investigations into this accident will play an important role in determining who may have been at fault for the purposes of criminal charges, which could be brought against the surviving younger woman. Investigations could also help produce evidence to support personal injury and/or wrongful death claims that might arise from this collision.

When an individual dies in a Connecticut car accident, family members of the victim might want to investigate how the crash occurred to determine if they have a reasonable cause of action to pursue wrongful death damages. A successfully navigated wrongful death claim could produce monetary compensation for surviving family members to pay for end of life expenses, loss of relationship, lost family income and more.
