Various injuries are possible after a car accident

Car accidents can cause several different types of injuries. While some injuries might be more serious than others, they can all lead to doctor bills, time off of work and other life changes that can have a negative impact on the person who was injured. All of these injuries can also affect the family members of the victims.

Injuries to the neck and the chest are fairly common. One of these, whiplash, is something that many people might have heard about. That isn’t the only injury in this area that can occur. You can also suffer from internal bleeding, broken ribs, traumatic cardiac arrest and collapsed lungs. These types of injuries all necessitate a trip for emergency medical care.

Back injuries are also possible after a motor vehicle crash. If the spinal cord is injured, the effects of the injury, which might include paralysis, can last a lifetime. Herniated disks and back pain are also possible.

Head injuries might occur. There are a lot of things that you might strike your head on in a vehicle. The steering wheel, the windows and the dash are some examples. You can even suffer from a brain injury just because of the rapid, sharp movement of your head.

Other injuries, such as fractures, bruises and cuts, are also possible. You can also suffer from emotional issues, such as post-traumatic stress disorder, after an accident.

Many of these injuries require that you obtain medical care. That means that you might start getting medical bills in the mail. If your injuries were the result of an accident in which another driver was at fault, you might decide to pursue claims for compensation.
