Connecticut woman receives four years in fatal DUI crash

A 33-year-old New Britain woman is facing four years in prison after pleading guilty to drunk driving. She also received five years of probation for the automobile accident that killed a 32-year-old paramedic. The woman pleaded guilty to second degree assault with a motor vehicle and second degree manslaughter.

How often does an alcohol-related accident happen?

New Haven police discovered, however, that a second vehicle was involved. The driver of the second vehicle is believed to be responsible for the crash and resultant fatality. He was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time, making it a drunk driving accident.

A police officer in Connecticut is now facing DUI charges after an accident that ended up totaling his police cruiser. The crash took place on a Friday night, and it happened in Ellington. The officer has had all of his powers as a member of the police forced stripped away for the time being.

The Connecticut family filed the suit in late April, and they are seeking compensation from five bars in Norwalk, Westport and Fairfield. These establishments could be held liable for as much as $250,000 in damages because of their relationship to the drunk driving accident.
