Connecticut man faces charges in alleged hit and run

A 48-year-old Connecticut man is facing multiple charges after allegedly causing an accident and then leaving the scene without stopping. The charges against the man include driving while intoxicated, using a car without the owner’s permission, failure to grant right of way, driving without a license and evading responsibility.

According to authorities, the man was traveling on South Main Street on Monday, May 18 around 3 p.m., when he attempted to make a left turn in a Chevrolet Impala. Instead, of completing the turn, however, he inadvertently pulled in front of a construction truck that was in the process of traveling to the south on Main Street. The truck then crashed into the Impala and spun off in the opposite direction.

After the accident, the man allegedly sped away from the scene. Police who were in the vicinity monitoring the traffic on South Main Street checked on the driver in the construction truck, then reportedly caught up with the driver, who according to police was intoxicated. Further investigation revealed that the man allegedly had taken the Impala, from Putnam, Connecticut, without first receiving permission from the owner. He was also wanted in Burlington, Vermont, for additional drunk driving charges. The man was subsequently arrested and jailed on $15,000 bail.

Individuals who have sustained damages or suffered injuries due to the actions of an intoxicated driver may be entitled to compensation for their loss or injuries. They could find it beneficial to learn more about their legal rights and may gain valuable information by speaking to an experienced personal injury attorney.
