Connecticut man faces multiple charges in hit and run

A 44-year-old man from Stratford, Connecticut, is facing multiple charges in a hit and run that involved three other vehicles. The charges against the man include interfering with an officer, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, misuse of a marker plate, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving with a suspended license, following too close, evading responsibility and operating under the influence.

The multiple charges against the man stemmed from an incident that occurred around 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 2. According to police, the man was traveling alone on the Devon Bridge, which is also known as Washington Bridge, when he allegedly struck the three other vehicles on the bridge with his GMC pickup truck. The accident caused several injuries. The man then reportedly left the scene in the truck without stopping.

Police state that they later found the vehicle abandoned in Stratford on Sheridan Street. A K-9 from the police department subsequently tracked the man to his residence. He was later identified as the driver of the truck by witnesses who were at the scene. The man was then taken into custody.

He is currently being held on a $25,000 bond. The man is expected to appear in Bridgeport Court for a preliminary hearing on May 18.
